Racing results – ANZAC Day Regatta and Winter Series Race 1

The ANZAC Day Regatta was a frustratingly slow affair with yachts struggling to make much headway down the harbour toward Devonport in a strong flood tide and very light breezes. A course was set to Torpedo, and Resolution Buoys, but it took almost three hours to do the short loop there and back. The crew on Princess showed how it’s done in the light, crossing the line two minutes before Aramoana. Psyche, Katrina, Innismara, Jonquil, and Corona all finished within the three hour mark, with Little Jim (in her first race appearance in a few years) and Aotearoa rounding out the fleet. Full results are available online.

The 2017 Winter Series kicked off on 6th May with five yachts (Waitangi, Thelma, Starlight, Katrina, and Aramoana turning out in light conditions. The smaller, lighter boats were much better placed to get around the course, and Starlight and Aramoana crossed the line four almost half an hour ahead of the other three. Full results are available online.

Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of
Felix Von Luckner

Do you have a launch similar to the PEARL (see below) and would be willing to take part in a celebration at Motuihe in December?

The purpose is to mark the 100th anniversary of Felix Von Luckner’s association and escape from the island. At the moment the Motuihe Restoration Trust is exploring ideas as ways to celebration, and plans are not yet fixed, but the notion of some kind of re-enactment might be fun.

Further information about Felix Von Luckner is available here

If you would like to take part please contact; Felix Billott:
