Classic Logan Yacht Aorere built 1892 by Robert Logan Snr

Aorere is a unique part of New Zealand’s maritime history and she is one of only a few Logan Snr yachts still sailing.

I have owned Aorere for over 40 years in 1990 sailed her to the Pacific Islands for 7 months, possibly the oldest yacht to leave NZ. She is still  in strong sound  condition.

She regularly does the BOI  Tall Ships race and is a lovely yacht to sail with her powerful gaff rig and she competes well in Classic yacht races. After the racing, reduce the sail area, fit the removable lifelines and dodger and have an eye catching classic yacht that can easily be handled by 2 people to cruise the Northland coast.

Aorere has been hauled and antifouled each year

2020 had a major rebuild of the mast

2021 Topsides burnt off and repainted

Dimension are  40 ft on deck. 8’6″ Beam and 7’6″  Draft

Engine is a 15 hp Yanmar with a trident Variable Pitch Propeller

Sails include

Gaff mainsail

2 Staysails #1 and #2

2 topsails, Jackyard and Fisherman

Jib / Flying Jib

Storm jib

Main Trysail

Aorere is  comfortable  for cruising with 6′ headroom, 5 Berths, marine head, 2 burner gas stove, aprox 200 ltrs of fresh water, brass cabin lamps and a warm timber interior.

I am selling Aorere as she no longer gets sailed as she should be , but she has been a major part of my life for a long time. As such the sale price is not as important as passing her onto someone who has the passion, enthusiasm and understanding to look after a classic vessel of her style.

If you think you are this person , give me a call and we can see what we can put together.

Aorere is moored in Opua ,  the mooring can also be leased or she can be delivered anywhere in the country
