Logan classic yacht Rainbow (A7) Built in 1898 by Arch Logan, Rainbow has the distinction of being the first New Zealand yacht to win an international regatta when it won the Intercolonial Regatta in Sydney in 1900. For the past 60 years, the Rainbow has been an integral part of the Dimock family sailing experience, being purchased by Les Dimock in early 1960’s and raced extensively in the Nelson, Marlborough & Wellington regions.
Then in 2007 Rainbow was returned to Auckland and fully restored by the syndicate owners back to the original gaff rig configuration. She now enjoys close competitive races in the Hauraki Gulf with her sisters of a similar vintage, as the photos indicate.
In 2020 Rainbow was hauled out and extensive maintenance carried out on spars, rigging, topsides and motor overhaul. A new sail inventory has also been added with larger mainsail and more headsail options.
