Mahurangi Weekend

A favorite event on the CYA calendar, over the weekend the ‘Mahurangi’ harbour becomes a haven for Classic lovers, where launches, sailboats and dinghies converge for three days of fun and frivolity.

Program of Events

RALLYING:

Friday:

1500 hours (TBC), Join the Classic Boat Rally departing from North head (TBC) or join in your own time.

Saturday:

0900 hours, start of the day’s shore and shoreside Mahurangi Regatta festivities in Sullivans Bay, sand sculpture, sea kayak race, sack race, tug of war, swimming races, petanque, 3-legged race, ..

1015 hours, Classic launch parade muster off Scotts Landing.

1100 hours, enjoy watching classic yachts from all divisions as they race up and down the harbour and out around the islands.

1830 hours, The CYA Mahurangi BBQ sponsored by L’Authentique for the second year. Grab your ticket below!

Sunday:

0900 hours, ‘Sunday morning-after-the-regatta breakfast’. PYBC and RYC Morning-after clean-up and breakfast. Barbecues available for other clubs, crews, and helpers.

Cruise home (or not!) at your leisure, amongst a fleet of classic enthusiasts.

RACING:

Friday:

The 3rd race in the CYA Passage Series, the DYC Night race to Mahurangi, starts easterly from Devonport Yacht Club, from 1500hrs.

3 pm: Classic A and Modern Classics

3.05 pm: Classic B

3.05 pm: Mullet Boats

3.10 pm: B Division (no extras) – Hyslop Cup

6 pm: A Division (no extras) – Barometer Trophy

Mahurangi Regatta, organized by the Mahurangi Yacht Club.

11.00 am:  A-Class

11.20 am:  Mahurangi Cup, L-Class, and Traditional Spirit Trophy

11.40 am:  Mid-Century Classics – modern classics

12.00 pm:  Te Haupa Trophy

12.10 pm: Frostbite, Mistral, Zephyr, Sunburst, and other centreboard classes

OFF-WATER EVENT:

Saturday 1830hrs, The CYA Mahurangi BBQ sponsored by L’Authentique,

Please join us by the CYA flags on the grass at Scotts landing for a selection of gourmet meats. Let us make it easier for you by supplying and cooking choice cuts of beef filet, chicken, burger patties, sausages, breads and condiments.

Just bring your picnic blankets, snacks, salads and drinks, and let us do the rest.

Disposable plates and cutlery will be available if you don’t prefer your own.
