After the race, boats were quickly moored in the bay and nearby marina. Following the traditional onboard socializing, crews headed ashore to the BBQ hosted at the property of Wade and Lisa Lewis. A lavish smorgasbord awaited them, featuring freshly grilled, succulent L’Authentique meats and accompanied salads.
The afternoon flowed seamlessly into the prizegiving, led by Chairman Jeremy Chapman. By 6pm, the band had struck up, with Arron Carpenter and his group delivering spectacular renditions of songs the party revelers could all sing to. In a moody lit atmosphere, the 200 plus people danced and sang from the first note until final, last, last song well past 10pm.

As the night drew to a close, crews made their way back to their boats—some tackling the tidal mud, resulting in a few memorable (and messy) encounters for those navigating their dinghies. The pristine vessels may not have appreciated their appearance.
Early the next morning, the crews of Katrina II and Rainbow returned to the BBQ site to assist with the clean-up.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Lisa and Wade for hosting such a fantastic event. Their generosity in providing the venue, atmosphere and feast has helped make this occasion a highlightof the CYA calendar.
