ROUND-UP -AUCKLAND ANNIVERSARY REGATTA 2026

A great turn out of craft to celebrate the 186th historic Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta

The weather gods were kinder to us than earlier week, offering blustery winds but conditions to suit most of the racing fleets.  Especially the A class classic yachts who provided a great dueling spectacle in challenging conditions.  Winds up to 27kts saw some interesting maneuvers, a few bits flying where they should not and a few daring running repairs.  A great day out.

Congratulations to the Auckland Regatta organization for again putting on a seamless event to showcase our history and Auckland’s ‘City of Sails’

 ‘ SAIL PAST ’

Be part of the Sail Past at the 185th Anniversary Regatta, with vessels of every kind proudly parading for Aucklanders to enjoy.  The motto ‘ If floats and you want to be part of something special, there’s a place for you”

This is our City of Sails on full display.

What a spectacle it will be: our beautiful classic fleet of boats showcasing Auckland’s rich maritime story of yesteryear, alongside boats boldly representing the designs and dreams of the future. Tradition meets innovation, all on the water together.

It all kicks off with the boom of the big cannon at 12pm.

From the start, a glorious dignified line of vessels will cruise along the city foreshore putting on a show for Auckland’s public, to continue up the harbour for the Classics yachts to be perfectly placed to begin their classic racing. Easy.

Burgees snapping, flags flying, sails hoisted or engines humming — just slip into the procession and become part of the show.

Let’s make this an extraordinary moment. With boats of every shape and size, the Sail Past promises to be a stunning spectacle — and all you have to do is take part.
