ROUNDUP – WOODEN BOAT FESTIVAL 13-15TH MARCH 2026

 

 

13-15th March – The Auckland Wooden Boat Festival held at the Viaduct Events Centre has perfected another spectacular event that saw a constant flow of visitors streaming through to view the exhibition.  There was more than 70 on water classic boats, and an abundance of working or static exhibits including dinghy’s, scaled models, maritime memorabilia and film/speaker programes.  The Australian Wooden Boat Festival team shipped over a container  featuring smaller boats, tools, and maritime memorabilia for the Auckland Festival.

The event was alive with activity creating a wonderful atmosphere

  • Viaduct Events Centre
  • Wynyard Quarter
  • New Zealand Maritime Museum
  • Percy Vos Shed

Festival Highlights

On Display:

  • Classic yachts launched between 1880–1949
  • Classic launches launched between 1880–1949
  • Classic dinghies
  • Indigenous Pacific and Asian craft
  • Classic boat models
  • Early steam and mechanical engines
  • Historic trophies dating back to the earliest days of yacht racing
  • Live boat-building demonstrations
  • Sail-making exhibits
  • Nautical books, charts, and maritime memorabilia

On the Water & On the Shore:

  • Film and Speaker programe
  • Steam boat rides
  • The sounds of sea shanties and contemporary music filling the air
  • A dedicated Kids’ Zone for the young — and the young at heart
