Classic Yacht Manutara

 Yachts /

$95,000.00

Designed in 1946 by the legendary Tasmanian Jock Muir, Manutara was built to that original design in 1962 by John and Bob Salthouse. Built in carvel planked Kauri, over Australian Blackbutt hardwood ribs and Jarrah keelson, she’s as solid today as when launched in December ‘62.

She’s been in survey for over 40 years, and until very recently (when the borders were closed in 2020) has been operating a successful sailing cruise tourist attraction in Akaroa.

After almost 4 years of inactivity, and ill health for the owner, the time has come for me to say a sad goodbye to Manutara.

Details:

47 feet long (37 feet lwl), beam 12 feet

Displacement 20 tonnes dry

80hp reliable FORD 4cyl diesel with 5000 hours since new 1985.

Aluminium mast, stainless rigging

11 sails, mainsail recently new and in Dimension Polyant UV resistant cloth.

Modern electronics package incl radar, fish finders, GPS chartplotter plus legacy Codan SSB radio

Galley features a reconditioned 4 burner stove and oven on gimbals

She sleeps 6 in comfort in three cabins.

Manutara comes with a full inventory of almost all items required for re-survey and commercial work.

Although entirely sound, Manutara will require antifoul, and paint to topsides and Kauri deck. Brightwork needs doing too. There’s no fibreglass on the boat so all paint is single pot.

A full recent SGS survey report is available upon request.

Lying on a swing mooring in Akaroa, the asking price is offers over $95k, as is where is.
